“Hightstown, NJ”
By: Cynthia Pando
It is extremely pretty
Even though it is not a city

I lived there for many years
It is the place that I shed many tears

I was not born here
But in my heart I hold it so dear

I made many friends even though I only talk to one
Who says she wants to become a nun

I lived there in an apartment not in a house
I remember when I saw in the apartment’s kitchen, a mouse

Hightstown is where I developed my dream
To become a pediatrician and have my parents beam

My life back then was simple
I never even got a pimple

I remember the light spring breeze
And how much my friends would tease

Even though I got tired of the small town
I don’t remember wearing a frown

A special place – Thomas Cox

When you are at st.marks
You never hear any snide remarks
For it is a caring community
Filled with opportunity
Weather you are in the third form
Were life can be a storm
Or if you are a member of the upper form
Where hard work is the norm
You can always find peace
Until your stress decrease
Weather on the basketball court
Were you have the whole school’s support
Or in the dinning hall
Were the amount of chicken is never small
Or in the forbs center
Where many gifted enter
Or in the math wing
If numbers is your thing
Or even in the Music Hall
And listen to nat play his Les Paul
Or if you are a senior on the quad
You can feel like a God
Some find the library a place of rest
Even though you are surrounded by the stressed
But there are other things about SM that are cool
In academics we rule
And in sports
We get prizes of all sorts
And the Hinkle room is a blast
Because it is like looking into the past
Plus the students are great
Because we can all relate
Because we are all here for a reason
Some to help make the perfect season
Some to get good grades
And a wide verity of other special trades
The falculty are the best
Any student would be impressed
Cause they are so smart
And filled with heart
It is no wonder why our students are elite
And why our skills can’t be beat
Which is why st.maks is a special place

“ Tenafly” by Michelle Seo

I’ve lived in all different places,
From Korea to the States,
But the most familiar faces
Are the ones with NJ plates.

Tenafly is my hometown
Where I grew up as a youngster,
Where I could play ‘till sundown
And nobody would stir.

For five years I bonded
With that special town, Tenafly;
Everyday I sounded
A cry of joy to the NJ sky.

I moved several times since then
But the town remains clear in my mind.
I visit it over and over again
Because it is one of a kind.

I miss you, old town of New Jersey,
My love, my life, my soulmate;
Where the wind used to make my face rosy,
And for whom I will always await.

My Room

A place to sleep.
A place to rest.
My place to be me
And no one else.
A place to relax.
A place to chat.
A place to read and
A place to unwind.
My room.
